Bumblebees (Preschool)

This term in Pre school  we will be looking at dinosaurs . We will be looking at what they ate and what noises they made. We will encourage the children to be imaginative with the dinosaurs for example move the dinosaurs around the room saying “stomp stomp”.

Each term we learn two different colours and shapes this term we are looking at the colours pink and white, and the shapes star and square.

Each week we will be going to the school library. We will encourage each child to choose a book to go home with to look at with their parent/carer . We will change the book every week.

In Preschool, we have many areas that the children love to explore. Each child expresses different interests and we change and adapt our environment to reflect this.

Children in Preschool spend their morning or afternoon session exploring, sharing and learning. We strive to help your 2-year-old develop his or her independence and confidence in a setting that encourages a sense of community. At the same time, we help your young child adapt to daily routines.

We plan your child’s activities based on the development matters document.

Your child will increase his/her language ability, practice early counting skills and learn to cooperate with friends through group activities. S/he will take on greater physical challenges and begin to communicate more effectively with adults and other children.

We are happy to share the highlights of his/her session, and invite you to speak to any member of staff at the beginning or end of each session.

We will give you ‘wow moments’ star sheet for you to fill in, if your child does something for the first time. It can be anything that you and your child are proud of. We really enjoy sharing the children’s experiences from home and adding them to their working wall and  they are then displayed with pride in the children’s Learning Journey Book.
