Poetry at Heart

Today, thirteen of our children from across keystage 2 have taken part in a Leading Learners Trust poetry competition, competing against 8 other schools within our trust. The children have spent most lunchtimes over the past few weeks, learning a poem off by heart and have practiced performing them. Their amazing efforts have now been sent off to the Poetry at Heart competition where, if chosen to be a finalist, they have the chance to attend the Shakespere Globe in London!

During today’s competition the children’s performance were outstanding! Their hard work and dedication has certainly paid off! We could not be prouder of their efforts and came away with the winning trophy! The judges told us that it was a very close competition between our children with Gizzy Wilson being our overall winner for Worth Valley Primary School, she received the most votes for an individual act. Evie-Jo Janecki and Amelia Rooke received the most votes for a group act.

A huge thank you to all of the children and of course, Mrs Townson who has dedicated her lunchtime to them. Hopefully we will have some finalists in London in the near future!
